“It’s a great opportunity for our students to work together and leverage the strengths of each program," says James Stevens, Senior Assistant Dean of Student Affairs for UC Davis GSM.

UC Hastings is pleased to announce a new concurrent JD/MBA degree program with the UC Davis Graduate School of Management (GSM).

Commencing with the 2015-2016 academic year, participating students earning degrees at both institutions concurrently may earn them together in as few as four (rather than the normal five) years. An illustrative schedule is available here.

Professor Morris Ratner spearheads JD/MBA concurrent degree programming at UC Hastings, and worked closely with UC Davis GSM to create this new program: “By cultivating our students’ abilities to think strategically along both legal and business dimensions," says Ratner, “UC Hastings and UC Davis GSM will train more sophisticated lawyers and businesspeople with the potential to find success in numerous arenas.”

“We offer a rich array of business-related curricular programming to all of our JD candidates,” Ratner said. “But for some students – for example, students interested in starting or joining ventures in which they will be called upon both to give legal advice and to make business decisions – a concurrent degree program makes sense. For those students, our arrangement with UC Davis creates wonderful opportunities, and nicely supplements our existing JD/MBA programming options."

“We are delighted to partner with UC Hasting on this new JD/MBA program,” says James Stevens, Senior Assistant Dean of Student Affairs for UC Davis GSM. “It’s a great opportunity for our students to work together and leverage the strengths of each program.”

          Information Session

This program will become effective in academic year 2015-16. Interested 1Ls should attend the upcoming 1L PREP Session - ”Intro to 2L/3L Opportunities” on March 17th, during one of the 15 minute sessions that run from 1:10-2:10 on that day. For more information about this program, and other JD/MBA opportunities, please contact Professor Ratner directly (ratnerm@uchastings.edu), or see our JD/MBA Programming page.
